Indian Hill runners turned out Sunday, Oct. 4, for the sixth annual Run4Sue 5K on Wooster Pike. The race honors the late Sue Harder and raises money for Girls on the Run Greater Cincinnati.

Daniel Harder, a 2015 Indian Hill High School graduate, organized the event near Fleet Feet Fifty West at 7668 Wooster Pike. He and his father, John Harder, created the race after Sue Harder died suddenly on Jan. 11, 2021, at age 58.

Indian Hill Schools posted on X after the race, describing the morning as a success and thanking the Braves community for showing up. The district gave special recognition to the IHHS Vinyl Club, which brought music to the event.

The school district had encouraged registration days earlier. Indian Hill Schools posted on Sept. 30 urging the community to support the Harder family and turn out for the race.

Sue Harder was a member of the Fleet Feet Running Club who completed three marathons and numerous half marathons. Her final race was a virtual Cincinnati Flying Pig. Girls on the Run Greater Cincinnati, in a December 2025 tribute, called her an ardent supporter and a familiar face in Cincinnati's running community. The Harder family's ties to the Indian Hill school district run deep. The Sue Harder Memorial Performing Arts Center at Indian Hill also bears her name.

All proceeds from the race fund a program called Sue's Running Buddies, a need-based scholarship through Girls on the Run Greater Cincinnati. The scholarship helps people accompany Girls on the Run participants on the 5K course when they otherwise could not afford to register. The organization serves Hamilton County and 12 other counties across Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana, and says it has reached more than 2.8 million young people in North America since 1996.

As we reported Sept. 30, the race started at 10:01 a.m. Organizers have not yet released participant counts or fundraising totals from the 2026 race.
