Three turnovers, three losses and zero points for Mariemont defined Friday, Oct. 2, for the area's football programs.
Deer Park shut out the Warriors 17-0 at Mariemont in a Cincinnati Hills League (CHL) game. No. 23 Wyoming beat Madeira 41-7 in another CHL matchup. And No. 18 Colerain topped Sycamore 41-23 in Greater Miami Conference play, according to WLWT's Blitz 5 recap.
Mariemont 0, Deer Park 17
Mariemont committed three turnovers against an unbeaten Deer Park squad that improved to 7-0.
The Warriors and Wildcats traded scoreless possessions through the first quarter before Caden Lewis connected on a 25-yard field goal just before halftime. Mariemont never answered. Sellers returned an interception for a touchdown in the third quarter, and Sayers added a late fourth-quarter score to seal the shutout.
Quarterback Davis Koehler finished 8-of-22 passing for 93 yards with two interceptions, and the Warriors managed just 147 yards of total offense on the night. Carson Quaimbao threw a third pick.
The three interceptions were the story. Deer Park's defense turned each takeaway into momentum, and the Warriors could not find a response.
Madeira 7, Wyoming 41
The Mustangs had no answer for Wyoming, falling 41-7 in a CHL contest. No individual stats or scoring details were available as of Saturday, Oct. 3.
Wyoming had beaten Mariemont 45-10 in Week 6, and the Cowboys put up another lopsided score against a CHL opponent.
Sycamore 23, Colerain 41
Sycamore put up 23 points against Colerain but could not keep pace in a 41-23 GMC loss. The Aviators had been shut out 41-0 by No. 9 Middletown in Week 6, so the offensive output marked some improvement even in defeat.
No individual stats were available for the Sycamore game as of Saturday, Oct. 3.
What's ahead
