Sycamore Township residents have one more chance at free brush chipping before the program pauses for September.

The township's monthly brush chipping service runs Saturday, Aug. 29, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the parking lot behind the Township Administration Building at 8540 Kenwood Road. There will be no monthly brush chipping in September, the township announced on X on Monday, Aug. 24.

No reason was given for the September cancellation.

The Aug. 29 date is a shift from the program's usual first-Saturday-of-the-month schedule, which the township called a "special date" in its announcement. The township did not explain the change, but the regular first Saturday in August, Aug. 1, was the day severe storms hit the area. Sycamore Township declared a storm damage emergency that day and declared a second emergency after additional storms on Tuesday, Aug. 11. Both emergency notices pointed residents toward the Aug. 29 chipping event as an option for storm debris.

This is not the first time the township has adjusted its schedule. In June, the monthly chipping moved to Saturday, June 27, citing the Fourth of July holiday, and the township announced no service in July.

The service is free and open to all Sycamore Township residents. Residents with questions can call the township at (513) 791-8447 or visit sycamoretownship.org.
