An $8.8 million project to overhaul two intersections along Fields Ertel Road in Sycamore Township is waiting on Duke Energy to finish relocating electrical distribution lines before major construction can begin.

The Hamilton County Engineer's Office issued a news release Oct. 12 outlining the project's status. Crews will reconstruct the intersection at McCauly Road and build a new roundabout at Conrey Road. Barrett Paving Materials, Inc. won the contract with a low bid of $8,810,177.

Duke Energy has completed transmission line relocation along the corridor. Distribution facility relocation is expected to start Monday, Nov. 2, and finish by the end of 2026, according to the release. Once that work wraps, Barrett Paving can advance roadway construction at both intersections.

Construction is expected to continue throughout 2027, with both intersections substantially complete by fall 2027. Motorists should expect lane restrictions, traffic pattern changes and possible delays.

The project is a joint effort among the Hamilton County Engineer's Office, the City of Sharonville and Sycamore Township. Deputy Engineer Todd C. Gadbury is the project contact at 513-946-8445.
