Sycamore Township trustees will meet behind closed doors Monday, Oct. 19, to discuss a personnel decision before their regular public meeting that evening.
The Board of Trustees scheduled a 5 p.m. special meeting to enter executive session on the "appointment, employment, and compensation of a public employee," the township announced on X on Tuesday, Oct. 13. The notice did not name the employee or describe the position.
The meeting falls on a Monday, a break from the board's usual Tuesday schedule.
The closed session is authorized under Ohio Revised Code Section 121.22(G)(1), which permits a public body to meet privately to discuss hiring, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion or pay for a public employee. Ohio law does not require the township to identify the person under consideration.
No vote or formal action can take place during the executive session. Under Ohio's Open Meetings Act, any decision must be adopted in an open meeting, according to the Ohio Attorney General's office.
The board's regular meeting follows at 6 p.m. at the Administration Building, 8540 Kenwood Road. That session is open to the public and will be live-streamed on WatchSycamoreTownship.com. Trustees Tom Weidman, Tracy Kellums and Tracy Schwegmann make up the three-member board.
