Sycamore Township's Board of Trustees proclaimed September 2026 as Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month at its Tuesday, Sept. 1 meeting.
The proclamation commends women and their families fighting ovarian cancer and encourages residents to learn the disease's symptoms. It states that early detection is the key to survival.
The proclamation calls on all citizens and agencies in the township to support awareness efforts, according to the Sept. 1 meeting document packet. The board, led by Chairman Tom Weidman, Vice Chairman Tracy Kellums and Trustee Tracy Schwegmann, passed the measure. Individual vote totals were not recorded in available documents.
September is recognized nationally as Gynecologic and Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, according to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance.
