Indian Hill Schools visited every building on its K-12 campus Wednesday, Aug. 26, asking students what they want to be when they grow up.

The answers spanned widely.

At the primary school, one student said ice cream truck driver. At the high school, another said neurosurgeon. The district called the annual tradition a favorite day in a post on its X account, tagging it with the #IHPromise hashtag that anchors the district's student-centered mission.

The tour came less than two weeks after classes resumed Aug. 14 for the roughly 2,200 students across Indian Hill Primary School, Indian Hill Elementary School, Indian Hill Middle School and Indian Hill High School.

The career-dreams walk fits into a broader effort to connect students with professional paths early. Indian Hill High School runs an Experienceships program, launched in spring 2022, that pairs all ninth- through 12th-graders with more than 40 industry partners for job shadows, internships and site visits. The high school also holds a Sophomore Career Day, which in 2024 featured healthcare workers and other professionals.

In an April 2025 feature for the Ohio STEM Learning Network, Principal Andy Gruber described the philosophy behind these programs: "Our mission, the #IHPromise, is a commitment to prioritizing our students by empowering their voices in a personalized, collaborative, and inclusive learning environment."

The district opened a K-12 Department of Leadership & Career Development and an Entrepreneurs' Center at the high school in August 2025. Indian Hill High School earned Ohio's STEM School Designation in 2024, following the primary and elementary schools, which received theirs in 2023.

Superintendent Melissa Stewart leads the district, which serves families in the Village of Indian Hill, Kenwood, parts of Symmes Township, Camp Dennison and Loveland.
