Indian Hill's varsity field hockey team beat North Oldham High School 4-3 on Saturday, Aug. 29, in a road game in Kentucky.

The one-goal victory pushed the Braves to 3-0 under first-year head coach Emily Betz. The official schedule page confirmed the result and the team's unbeaten record.

Indian Hill opened the year with a 4-2 home win over Olentangy Orange on Aug. 22 at Tomahawk Stadium. The Braves followed that with a 7-2 rout of Ursuline Academy in a Southwest Ohio Field Hockey League (SWOFHL) conference game on Aug. 25.

The North Oldham trip marked the team's first road test. The one-goal margin was the closest of the Braves' three games so far, after they outscored opponents 11-4 in their two home wins.

Betz, a Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, native and former Davidson College captain, came to Indian Hill after coaching at The Summit Country Day School. She started coaching in 2017 and led Summit to its first playoff appearance in more than a decade in 2019. She earned SWOFHL Coach of the Year honors three times, in 2019, 2020 and 2025.

When she was introduced as head coach in January, Betz described her coaching philosophy on the Indian Hill Braves Athletics website: "Success is giving your full effort every time you step onto the field, committing to getting better each day, and making your teammates better because you were there."

Betz also spoke about the sport's momentum in the area in her introductory profile. "Field hockey is growing fast in our region, and our players all play a role in adding to the legacy of Cincinnati field hockey," she said.

The Braves are 3-0.

Indian Hill returns to conference play Monday, Aug. 31, at Oakwood High School's Lane Stadium. The SWOFHL matchup is scheduled for 7 p.m.
