Sycamore Township's Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing Thursday, August 13, two days after the Board of Trustees holds its own zoning hearing Tuesday, August 11.
Residents will have two separate opportunities the week of August 11 to address the township's zoning bodies.
The township posted notice of the August 13 hearing on Thursday, linking to the Zoning Commission page on the township website. The notice does not identify which zoning case or cases will be heard.
The August 11 Trustees hearing covers Zoning Case ZC-2026-7, a request to rezone the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church property at 7701 Kenwood Road to Planned Unit Development Type II. Josh Shaw of The Kleingers Group, LLC filed that application, according to township zoning records. As we reported July 28, the August 11 session is the third scheduled hearing on that case, following sessions June 16 and July 21.
Whether the August 13 Zoning Commission hearing involves the same Kenwood Road case or a separate matter is unclear from the posted notice. The township has not published minutes or a formal outcome from the July 21 Trustees hearing.
Two bodies, two roles
The distinction matters for residents trying to follow the process. Under Ohio Revised Code Chapter 519, the Zoning Commission is a five-member advisory panel appointed by the Board of Trustees.
Under the standard ORC 519.12 sequence, the Zoning Commission hears a case before the trustees do; whether the August 13 hearing involves ZC-2026-7 or a separate matter has not been disclosed.

Both hearings take place at the Township Administration Building, 8540 Kenwood Road. The August 11 Trustees hearing begins at 5:30 p.m., with a regular trustee meeting following at 6:00 p.m. No start time has been posted for the August 13 Zoning Commission hearing.
