Madeira junior Ellie Hartung won the OHSAA Division II Girls Golf State Championship on Oct. 12, becoming the first golfer in school history to claim a state title.

Hartung posted a two-day total of 139 at Firestone Country Club's Fazio Course in Akron, a par-70 layout. She opened with a 2-under-par 68 in the first round Oct. 11 and followed it with a 1-over-par 71 to win by three strokes, according to ohio.golf.

Kylie Miller of Garaway finished second at 142. Warren Champion's Avery Robinette placed third at 144, and Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy junior Sophia Fink, a Division II runner-up in 2024 and 2025, finished fourth at 146, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.

The state title capped a dominant regular season for Hartung. She carried a nine-hole scoring average of 35.5, the lowest in the Cincinnati Hills League, and earned medalist honors at every regular-season match Madeira played, according to Madeira City Schools. She was also named 1st Team All Ohio.

Madeira girls golf coach Catie Kauffman said Hartung is dedicated to improving her game and praised her humility on and off the course, according to the school district.

Hartung's championship builds on a strong sophomore year, when she posted a league-best nine-hole scoring average of 35.9 over 243 holes played.

Madeira competed as a team at state and finished fourth with a combined 711. Columbus Academy won the team title with a 615, 87 strokes ahead of second-place Chagrin Falls, according to the Enquirer.

Four Madeira teammates joined Hartung at Firestone. Paige Grontkowski shot 186 to finish 35th. Brinkley Graves placed 40th at 190. Maggie Meyer carded a 196 for 44th, and Emma Combs tied for 51st with a 204, according to OHSAA official results.

The OHSAA golf season ended Oct. 17. Hartung returns for her senior year in 2027.
