Sycamore Township residents who miss the 8 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, deadline for free curbside storm debris pickup still have a second option: a free brush chipping day later this month.
The township will host the chipping event Saturday, Aug. 29, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the parking lot behind the Township Administration Building at 8540 Kenwood Road. The event is open to all township residents.
It follows the township's storm damage emergency declaration after strong storms hit the area Saturday, Aug. 1. It is the third such emergency Sycamore Township has declared in 2026, after storms on May 20 and July 17–18.
Wednesday deadline still applies for curbside pickup
Residents who want free curbside debris collection must call 513-791-8447 or submit an online form by 8 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5. As we reported Monday, this is not a township-wide collection. Only households that register by the deadline qualify.
Residents who register but haven't moved debris to the curb yet have two weeks after the deadline to get it out. The township asks that they call back at 513-791-8447 when it's ready.
How to prepare debris for curbside pickup
The township's instructions are specific:
- Place storm debris unbagged at the curb
- Cut sides of branches must face the street
- Do not mix debris with leaves
Third storm, same playbook
The township used the same two-step approach after the July 17–18 storms: a curbside registration deadline followed by a free brush chipping day. That earlier chipping event was held Aug. 1 at the same Kenwood Road location, according to the township's July emergency declaration.
