Two suspects used sledgehammers to smash display cases at Watches of Switzerland inside Kenwood Towne Centre and stole $123,200 worth of watches on Tuesday, according to court documents obtained by WLWT.

Jordan Grimes, 25, has been charged with felony theft and criminal damaging. A 17-year-old suspect faces the same charges. The juvenile has not been publicly identified.

The theft happened around 7:15 p.m. while the Sycamore Township mall was open to shoppers. Court documents say Grimes and the juvenile entered the store, shattered glass cases with sledgehammers, grabbed the watches and fled through Nordstrom before exiting on the Montgomery Road side of the property.

Armed bystanders pursued suspects on foot

Two women told WLWT reporter Sean MacKinnon on Friday that their husbands pursued the suspects on foot after the theft. Both men were armed with handguns. The women said their husbands came face-to-face with the suspects at one point, and one suspect asked where his brother was before fleeing again.

No shots were fired during the encounter, according to the WLWT report.

Flock camera led to Warren County arrest

Hamilton County deputies located the suspects after their vehicle triggered a hit on a Flock automated license plate reader camera in Warren County, according to a Hamilton County arrest report.

Both suspects were taken to the Mason Police Department in Warren County for questioning. Grimes was then transported to the Hamilton County Justice Center.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office patrols Sycamore Township, where the mall is located. No arraignment date for either suspect has been announced, and whether the stolen watches have been recovered is not part of the public record.
