On the issues
Levy's policy positions, drawn from his campaign website, center on restructuring the economy, expanding social programs and overhauling foreign policy.
Economy: Levy said on his campaign website that he would implement an across-the-board price freeze on essential goods. He called for seizing the 100 largest corporations, including six headquartered in Ohio such as Kroger and Procter & Gamble, and transforming them into publicly owned entities controlled by workers. He also said artificial intelligence should not lead to layoffs and that technological progress under public ownership could shorten the workweek.
Healthcare and housing: Levy's campaign website calls for a universal, single-payer healthcare system free at the point of use. On housing, he said he would enact a national rent cap so no one pays more than 20% of income on housing and would ban evictions.
Foreign policy: Levy said on his campaign website that as a veteran he would fight to cut the Pentagon budget by 90% and dismantle the network of more than 800 U.S. military bases worldwide. He said his foreign policy would reject "forever wars" and embrace global cooperation on climate change, pandemics and poverty.
Civil rights: Levy's campaign calls for full payment of reparations to Black Americans and federal investment in historically oppressed communities. He called for a ban on discrimination in housing and employment. He said he would outlaw what he called racist gerrymandering and voter purges targeting Black voters. On immigration, he said he would abolish ICE, end all raids and deportations, shut down detention camps and establish a clear path to citizenship.
Education: Levy said he would cancel all student debt. He said he would make public education completely free from pre-K through college and trade school.
Levy's campaign did not respond to a Village Press questionnaire.
