Sycamore Township residents and businesses have until Friday, Oct. 16, to purchase commemorative bricks, pavers or plaques at the Veterans Memorial at Bechtold Park.
The Sycamore Township Veterans Memorial Commission announced the new sponsorship round on Monday, Sept. 21. Items ordered by the deadline will be installed at the memorial in time for Veterans Day on Wednesday, Nov. 11.
The memorial sits at 4312 Sycamore Road. It opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Memorial Day following the annual Silverton–Deer Park–Sycamore Township VFW parade. The project broke ground on Oct. 14, 2025, when Trustees Tracy Kellums and Tracy Schwegmann joined representatives of the Veterans Memorial Commission and the Sycamore Township Community Improvement Corporation for a 9:30 a.m. ceremony at the park.
That puts the memorial's timeline at roughly seven months from groundbreaking to its Memorial Day opening.
