Sycamore lost 42-19 at home to No. 22 Fairfield on Friday, Sept. 18, dropping the Aviators to 0-5 overall and 0-4 in the Greater Miami Conference.

Fairfield, which entered the game at 1-3 overall and 0-3 in the GMC, picked up its first conference win of the season. The Indians improved to 2-3 overall and 1-3 in league play, according to the Journal-News.

The loss extended Sycamore's winless start to five games. The Aviators have been outscored 206-77 through five weeks, a stretch that includes a 56-7 loss to No. 1 Princeton in Week 4 and a 43-24 loss to Mason in Week 2.

The Princeton game was lopsided from the start. The Vikings scored 35 points in the second quarter alone, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer's athlete-of-the-week ballot for Sept. 14.

Sycamore's closest contest came in Week 3, a 31-21 loss to Hamilton. The season opener against Kings ended 34-6.

The 19 points against Fairfield marked Sycamore's second-highest scoring output of the season, behind the 24 the Aviators put up against Mason. Quarterback Zachary Branam opened the year with a strong individual performance in the Kings loss, completing 26 of 35 passes for 346 yards and four touchdowns, according to SI.com's GMC Player of the Week poll for the week of Aug. 24-29.

Fairfield had been averaging 316.0 yards of total offense per game entering Week 5, according to WLWT's Blitz 5 Top 25 rankings. The ranking placed the Indians at No. 22 despite their losing record through four games.
