Resilience and Eli Lilly will invest $750 million to expand pharmaceutical manufacturing in the Cincinnati region, adding at least 400 high-skilled jobs, the companies announced Thursday.
Resilience's global headquarters now sits on Kenwood Road in Blue Ash, less than two miles from the Kenwood corridor in Sycamore Township.
The contract biomanufacturer, which moved its headquarters from San Diego to 10901 Kenwood Road in June, will produce Lilly's KwikPen injectable device for diabetes and obesity treatments at its West Chester Township campus. Site preparation is already underway, with full operations expected to begin in early 2027, according to a joint announcement from the companies.
The 400-plus new positions will push Resilience's total Ohio workforce past 1,400 employees. The company already operates nearly 1 million square feet across two Cincinnati-area facilities and employs close to 1,000 people in manufacturing, operations, quality, and regulatory roles.
"We are proud of what we have built together with Lilly and this new expansion as we scale production of complex medicines in Ohio," William S. Marth, president and CEO of Resilience, told WLWT. "Our investment reflects our long-term commitment to building one of the largest and most advanced sterile injectable and device assembly and packaging operations in the United States."
What it means locally
Resilience's Blue Ash headquarters sits directly adjacent to Sycamore Township's Kenwood business district. The June relocation from California made Blue Ash the company's corporate home, tying executive leadership to its expanding manufacturing network.
Governor Mike DeWine said the announcement validates Ohio's life science workforce and collaborative approach to economic development, noting that Resilience's headquarters move from California to Blue Ash cements the state's biomanufacturing leadership.
JobsOhio President and CEO J.P. Nauseef said the state's biomanufacturing training investments are preparing workers for careers at Resilience and similar employers. Ohio ranked No. 1 in CNBC's Top States for Business ranking in July 2026, with life sciences cited as a key growth sector, according to Ohio Tech News.
What comes next
The $750 million is a joint investment by both companies; neither has disclosed its individual share. KwikPen production at the West Chester facility at 8848 Trade Port Drive is expected to begin in early 2027, adding to the vial and syringe lines already running there.
