An 83-pound brass Victory Bell now stands at Madeira High School, donated by families of the 2024 state champion girls soccer seniors.

The bell was dedicated on Aug. 14 at a "Celebrate the 'Zons" event where members of the championship team received their state rings before the start of the 2026-27 school year. It sits on a metal stand at the end of the MHS track and will ring after every student victory, athletic and academic.

Ten families pooled funds to have the bell made and installed, according to Madeira City Schools. Attendees at the dedication also watched home boys' and girls' soccer games.

"We wanted to make a contribution that was meaningful to the school," said Emily Momper, mother of Class of 2025 player Vivian Momper. "In honor and with love to Madeira High School, the bell was meant as a gift to the entire school."

The idea started with the senior moms, who sat together at their daughters' games in fall 2024 and discussed how the team could leave a lasting mark. That season, the Amazons had chosen "legacy" as their guiding word. They finished 20-1-2 and captured Madeira's first Division V state title.

Ten families made it happen.

The former players who dedicated the bell: Olivia Bodley, Natalie Cimpello, Anna Cornejo, Autumn Daley, Evelyn Kerrey, Vivian Momper, Abby Naegeli, Emma Prus, Kate Shoemaker and Corinne Westbrook.

A plaque on the bell reads in part: "This bell hangs as a reminder of the Amazon's strength and resilience. Its ring, which symbolizes the Amazon warrior cry, is to inspire all Madeira competitors and to celebrate hard fought victories."

The gift caps a remarkable stretch for Madeira girls soccer. Mayor Doug Moormann proclaimed Nov. 25, 2024, "Madeira High School Girls' Soccer Day." The Madeira Board of Education recognized head coach Dan Brady as Ohio Division 5 Coach of the Year at its Jan. 13, 2025, meeting. The program then repeated as state champions in November 2025, beating Doylestown Chippewa 3-0, according to WCPO.

After that second title, Brady told WCPO in November 2025 that the 2024 squad was "offensively dominant with a very strong defense." The 2025 team, after graduating all 10 seniors, had to lean on defensive experience while developing its attack, he said.

Entering the 2026-27 season, Madeira is ranked No. 8 in Ohio girls soccer by cleveland.com. The program has reached three consecutive state Final Fours and won back-to-back championships. The former players challenged every future Amazon and Mustang to continue the legacy and add their own accomplishments to the school's story.

The 2026-27 season is underway, and the bell is ready.
