John D. Hancock will not appear on the Nov. 3, 2026, general-election ballot for Ohio’s 1st Congressional District. The Hamilton County Board of Elections’ Oct. 16 certified list names Nathan Weise as the Libertarian candidate, alongside Republican Eric Conroy and Democratic incumbent Greg Landsman.
A Sept. 11 Libertarian Party of Ohio post confirms that the party filled the previous candidate’s vacancy with Weise. Ballotpedia’s Hancock profile also says Hancock is no longer on the general-election ballot.
Background and earlier positions
Ballotpedia lists Hancock’s associate degree from Cincinnati State Technical and Community College and engineering work.
In his earlier Candidate Connection responses and campaign statements reproduced there, Hancock advocated lower taxes and spending, more public access to government records, less influence from major donors, and criminal-justice reform including an end to mandatory minimum sentences.
Those are positions from his former campaign, not the platform of the current Libertarian nominee. His former campaign website is hancock4liberty.com; it did not display readable content when checked for this update.
Correction: Earlier versions incorrectly identified Hancock as a general-election candidate. The current certified ballot lists Weise instead.
