Keith Faber, Ohio’s Republican auditor of state, is running for attorney general in the Nov. 3, 2026, general election. The certified statewide candidate list identifies Faber and Democrat John J. Kulewicz as the candidates.

Experience

His official auditor biography says he took office in 2019 after 18 years in the Legislature, including service as Senate president. It identifies him as an Oakland University and Ohio State University law graduate and founder of Faber and Associates.

The office says his administration has overseen more than 155 public-official convictions and audits identifying billions in unemployment fraud and abuse. Those figures are attributed to the auditor’s office.

On the issues

Faber’s campaign platform favors stronger consumer-fraud enforcement, particularly against companies and cybercriminals targeting seniors. He proposes public education and penalties for deceptive business practices.

On drugs, he calls for addiction treatment, prosecution of suppliers and recovery support. His human-trafficking agenda includes cooperation with police, nonprofits and community groups, along with safe housing and job training for survivors.

He supports Donald Trump’s border policies and says he would challenge federal actions he considers to exceed federal authority. His official biography also describes his legislative support for lower taxes, spending restraint and public-records access.

In a separate healthcare proposal, Faber would create a Health Insurance Denial Resolution Program in the attorney general’s office. It would offer appeal guidance, a consumer helpline and intervention where patterns of improper claim denials emerge. This is a proposed program, not an existing benefit.
