Indian Hill senior Devlan Daniel will suit up at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia on Sunday, August 16, for the Perfect Game DICK'S All-American Classic. Then he'll flip back to football for the Braves' season opener at Roger Bacon on Friday, August 21.

Five days between an elite baseball showcase and a varsity football game. That's the schedule facing the Braves' starting quarterback and Ohio's No. 1 high school baseball prospect, according to Prep Baseball Report's 2027 class rankings.

Daniel is the only Ohio player on the 60-player roster for the Classic, which drew selections from 20 states, Puerto Rico and Canada. He's listed on the East squad as an outfielder and right-handed pitcher. The event carries serious professional cachet: 59 former Perfect Game All-Americans were selected in the 2026 MLB Draft, including 16 first-round picks and six of the first eight players chosen.

"Devlan does a really good job of balancing things," Indian Hill head football coach John Rodenberg said in a release posted Tuesday on the school's athletics site. "He can walk into the weight room, and his work ethic is nothing you can complain about. When he's here, he's fully engaged. And the kids know that and I appreciate that."

The multi-day event runs Thursday, August 13, through August 16, meaning Daniel will miss some August football preparation. Rodenberg said in the same release that the coaching staff is confident Daniel will transition smoothly into the season.

Daniel returned Tuesday from USA Baseball 18U National Team Trials in Cary, North Carolina, and earlier performed at the Perfect Game National Showcase at loanDepot Park in Miami. The All-American Classic will be his second MLB venue this summer.

On the diamond, Daniel earned Division IV first-team All-Ohio honors at shortstop after hitting .436 with four home runs, five triples, 18 stolen bases and a .782 slugging percentage in 26 games for Indian Hill (21-5). He was also named the Gatorade Ohio Baseball Player of the Year, posting a 1.05 ERA with 44 strikeouts in 26 innings on the mound. He is verbally committed to Mississippi State.

Under center last fall, Daniel threw for 1,192 yards and 13 touchdowns and rushed for 1,116 yards and 21 touchdowns as the Braves went 13-1 and reached the Division IV state semifinals. Indian Hill moves up to Division III for 2026, according to the WCPO football preview published Thursday, July 24.

In that same preview, Daniel said the team's focus hasn't shifted: "Everyone wants to be here. Everyone wants to compete. We all have the same goal. Go win a state championship and I don't think that thought process has wavered from anyone's mind."

Rodenberg, in his fifth season at Indian Hill and 33rd year as a high school head coach, returns a loaded defense that allowed just 10 points per game last fall. Junior linebackers Topher Wachtel and Joey Jernigan each recorded 83 tackles, and senior defensive back Dylan Hartman earned first-team all-state honors. Junior tailback Jacob Alexander rushed for 674 yards and seven touchdowns, giving the offense another weapon while opponents key on Daniel.

Admission to the August 16 game is free, and it will stream live on Perfect Game's PGTV platform. First pitch is set for 1:35 p.m. ET.

Indian Hill opens at Roger Bacon on Friday, August 21, then travels to Beechwood on Friday, August 28.
