Indian Hill shut out Madeira 35-0 on Friday, Oct. 9, at Tomahawk Stadium in a Cincinnati Hills League Week 8 game.

The Braves improved to 6-2 overall and 4-1 in CHL play. The win extended their streak to four straight, including back-to-back shutouts after a 59-0 rout of Finneytown on Friday, Oct. 2. Indian Hill has outscored opponents 94-0 over those two games.

The result compounds a difficult stretch for Madeira. The Mustangs entered the game at 4-3 and ranked 15th in OHSAA Division V, Region 20, according to computer ratings published by the Cincinnati Enquirer on Oct. 6. That placed them outside the top-12 playoff qualifying cutoff. The Enquirer noted that Madeira, along with Purcell Marian and Blanchester, all at 4-3, were "outside the bubble and have work to do."

The shutout was the second lopsided defeat in a row for head coach Chris Stewart's squad. Madeira fell 41-7 to undefeated Wyoming in Week 7, according to cleveland.com's statewide rankings.

Several starters return from a 2025 defense that allowed just 10 points and 161 total yards per game during a 13-1 season that ended in the Division IV state semifinals, according to an Indian Hill preseason release.

Head coach John Rodenberg, now in his fifth season at Indian Hill and his 33rd year as a high school head coach, praised the returning defensive core before the season. "Our defense last year statistically might have been the best defense I've ever had in my career … It was crazy how good we were," Rodenberg told WCPO on July 24.

Junior linebackers Topher Wachtel and Joey Jernigan, who each recorded 83 tackles in 2025, anchor the unit. Senior defensive back Dylan Hartman, a Division IV first-team all-state selection last year, returns in the secondary.

The Braves are competing in Division III for the first time after moving up from Division IV. Entering Week 8, Indian Hill sat 12th in Division III, Region 12, the last playoff qualifying position, with a 7.4898 rating, per the Enquirer's Oct. 6 report.

Senior quarterback Devlan Daniel returns after throwing for 1,192 yards and 13 touchdowns and rushing for 1,116 yards and 21 touchdowns in 2025, according to the preseason release. Junior tailback Jacob Alexander rushed for 674 yards and seven touchdowns last season.

Indian Hill hosts Deer Park for Senior Night on Friday, Oct. 16, at Tomahawk Stadium. The Braves close the regular season at Reading on Friday, Oct. 23.
