Judge Ginger S. Bock is seeking reelection to Ohio’s First District Court of Appeals, which serves Hamilton County, in the Nov. 3, 2026, election. The certified candidate list identifies her as a Democrat running without an opponent for the term beginning Feb. 9, 2027.
Experience and education
Bock was elected in November 2020 and took the bench Feb. 8, 2021, according to the court’s announcement of her selection as administrative and presiding judge for 2024. The 2021 start date of her current term differs from the 2027 start date of the term now on the ballot.
She attended Miami University and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Cincinnati College of Law. Her early legal work included serving as a staff attorney for First District Judge Mark P. Painter. She later practiced appellate law, including through her own firm, and worked as a Common Pleas staff attorney before her election. The court also identifies her as an adjunct professor of legal research and writing at UC.
Approach to the court
In her official biography, Bock identifies reducing disparities, improving court transparency and removing barriers to justice as priorities. She says everyone appearing before the court should receive fair and respectful treatment. Before law school she worked for a decade at nonprofits, including services for abused children and women in treatment.
