Frank LaRose, Ohio’s Republican secretary of state, is running for auditor of state in the Nov. 3, 2026, general election. The official certified list identifies LaRose and Democrat Annette Blackwell as the candidates.
Experience
The secretary of state’s biography identifies LaRose as serving his second term, following service in the Ohio Senate. It describes his Army Special Forces background, Bronze Star, continued Ohio National Guard service and graduation from Ohio State University.
His official biography also lists his involvement with the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Green Beret Foundation.
On the issues
On his campaign website, LaRose says he would apply transparency, efficiency and accountability to the auditor’s work with state and local governments.
He proposes helping public offices manage tax dollars more openly and efficiently and holding them accountable when they fail to do so. The campaign describes those principles as the basis of his plan; the homepage does not provide a detailed implementation budget.
Editor’s note: LaRose did not return the outlet’s candidate questionnaire. This profile uses official records and his published campaign statement.
