Indian Hill rising senior Devlan Daniel will play alongside the nation's top 60 high school baseball prospects on August 16, at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia after earning a spot in the 2026 Perfect Game All-American Classic. He is the only Ohio player on the roster, according to Perfect Game.

Daniel, a Mississippi State verbal commit rated Ohio's No. 1 player in the 2027 class by Prep Baseball Report, told WCPO he learned of the invitation shortly after returning July 21, from USA Baseball's 18U National Team Trials in Cary, North Carolina.

"This is everything I've been training for," Daniel said. "Everyone who has helped me throughout this — just to be able to see and hear their voice being like, 'Congratulations and thank you' — it hits me even harder. Because I know I should be the one saying thank you to them."

The All-American Classic is the second MLB venue Daniel has competed in this summer. He also performed at the Perfect Game National Showcase at loanDepot Park, home of the Miami Marlins. The August game marks the first time the Classic has been held on the East Coast since 2005 in Aberdeen, Maryland, according to Perfect Game. Past alumni include Bryce Harper, Francisco Lindor, Bobby Witt Jr. and Gunnar Henderson.

Daniel's spring numbers earned him the attention. He hit .436 with four home runs, five triples, five doubles, 18 stolen bases and a .782 slugging percentage in 26 games for Indian Hill (21-5). On the mound, he posted a 1.05 ERA with 44 strikeouts in 26 innings. The Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association named him a Division IV first-team All-Ohio shortstop, and Gatorade named him its Ohio Baseball Player of the Year.

Indian Hill head baseball coach Cary Daniel, Devlan's father, called the All-American Classic selection a milestone for draft visibility.

"These are all of the events that are huge for draft opportunities coming out of high school," Cary Daniel told WCPO. "He is playing alongside all of the high school guys that will have their names called in the 2027 MLB Draft."

Madeira head baseball coach Matt Heller offered a scouting report when Daniel won the Gatorade award in June. "From a pitching standpoint, he's made huge strides from last year," Heller said. "If you miss a location, especially with a fastball, he makes you pay."

Off the field, Daniel carries a 3.84 weighted GPA and participates in the Partners Club, a student group that pairs students with and without special needs.

Daniel is also Indian Hill's starting quarterback. The Braves went 13-1 and reached the Division IV state semifinals in 2025. Indian Hill moves up to Division III football this fall and opens at Roger Bacon on August 21. Football coach John Rodenberg told WCPO that Daniel will miss some August practice time for baseball.

"He can walk into the weight room, and his work ethic is nothing you can complain about," Rodenberg said. "When he's here, he's fully engaged."

The multi-day All-American Classic event runs August 13 through August 16. First pitch for the showcase game is set for 5 p.m.
