Indian Hill put up 56 points Friday, Sept. 4, and routed New Richmond 56-14 at Tomahawk Stadium during the annual Booster Bash.

The win moved the Braves to 2-1 on the season. Indian Hill opened the year with a 35-14 win over Roger Bacon on Aug. 21 but lost 42-0 at Beechwood on Aug. 28.

Head coach John Rodenberg, now in his fifth season at Indian Hill and his 33rd year as a high school head coach, entered 2026 with high expectations. The Braves went 13-1 last fall and reached the Division IV state semifinals before moving up to Division III this season.

Indian Hill returns several key players from that 2025 squad. Senior quarterback Devlan Daniel, a second-year starter and Mississippi State baseball commit, threw for 1,192 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2025. He also rushed for 1,116 yards and 21 touchdowns. Junior tailback Jacob Alexander added 674 rushing yards and seven touchdowns.

On defense, junior linebackers Topher Wachtel and Joey Jernigan each recorded 83 tackles last season. Senior defensive back Dylan Hartman, a 2025 Division IV first-team all-state selection, returns as well. Hartman also caught 13 passes for 371 yards and three touchdowns on offense.

That 2025 defense allowed just 10 points and 161 yards per game, including 3.2 yards per rush, according to a WCPO preseason feature published in July.

"Everyone wants to be here … Everyone wants to compete," Daniel said in that July interview. "We all have the same goal. Go win a state championship and I don't think that thought process has wavered from anyone's mind."

Individual stats from the Sept. 4 game were not available at publication.

The Braves host Wyoming at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at Tomahawk Stadium for Youth Night. After that, Indian Hill travels to Mariemont's Kusel Stadium on Sept. 18 before returning home for Homecoming against Taylor on Sept. 25.
