Indian Hill's varsity field hockey team blanked Ursuline Academy 2-0 on Thursday, Oct. 1, keeping the Braves unbeaten at 10-0 on the season.

The conference win at Blue Ash Sports Center gave Indian Hill a 7-0 mark in league play. It was the second time the Braves beat Ursuline this fall, following a 7-2 victory on Aug. 25.

First-year head coach Emily Betz came to Indian Hill after coaching at Summit Country Day, where she was named Southwest Ohio Field Hockey League Coach of the Year three times. On her coach bio page, published before the season, Betz described her vision for the program: "Field hockey is growing fast in our region, and our players all play a role in adding to the legacy of Cincinnati field hockey."

The Braves have outscored opponents 50-10 through 10 games, posting five shutouts. The season includes an 11-0 win over Summit Country Day on Sept. 8 and a 7-0 Senior Night win over Walnut Hills on Sept. 24. Goalkeeper Kaydance Givens and defender Polly Holmes have drawn recognition from the Cincinnati Enquirer, which nominated both for its weekly athlete ballot in September. Holmes earned her nod after the Walnut Hills shutout.

The JV field hockey squad also won Thursday, edging Ursuline 2-1 at Blue Ash Sports Center.

Volleyball sweeps Reading

Both Indian Hill volleyball teams swept Reading on Oct. 1. The varsity squad won 3-0 (25-15, 25-20 and 25-11) at Reading, improving to 8-8 overall and 6-4 in conference play. The JV team won 2-0 (25-20 and 25-13).

The varsity win extended the Braves' streak to two games heading into a home match against Summit Country Day on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 9 a.m.

Soccer stays unbeaten

Indian Hill's varsity girls soccer team beat Batavia 2-0 at Shawnee Field on Oct. 1, according to the team's schedule page. The Braves improved to 9-0-2 overall and 4-0-1 in conference play.

No loss yet for this group, either.

The soccer team's next game is a Cincinnati Hills League matchup against Madeira on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m. at Indian Hill.
