Sycamore High School's Academic Quiz Team held its first practice of the 2026-27 season on Oct. 5, giving the squad three months to prepare before Greater Miami Conference matches begin in January.

Coach Gerald Helsinger told The Leaf, the school's student newspaper, that the format demands more than knowledge. "What a lot of people do not realize is that … you have to incorporate not only intelligence but composure and speed," Helsinger said.

The team practices every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 2:20 to 3:30 p.m., with Fridays adding buzzer drills.

The Sycamore Aviators athletics page lists the season opener at Colerain High School on Monday, Jan. 4, 2027, at 4 p.m., with both varsity and junior varsity squads competing. Home matches at Sycamore follow on Jan. 6, Jan. 13 and Jan. 20, all at 4 p.m.
