Indian Hill residents who use Burley Hills Drive will need to find another route starting Wednesday, Aug. 19, when the village closes the road for a water main and culvert pipe replacement project expected to last about 3½ months.

The closure covers Burley Hills Drive between Miami Road and Indian Hill Road, according to an announcement on the Village of Indian Hill's website published Aug. 12. Crews will also replace water mains and culvert pipes on Mohican Lane as part of the same project.

The village expects construction to wrap up by Nov. 30.

Homeowners along the affected stretch will keep access to their properties throughout the project, but not from both ends at once. Rolling closures will shift as crews move along the road, and residents will be able to reach their homes via either Miami Road or Indian Hill Road at any given time, according to the village. That means through-traffic between Miami Road and Indian Hill Road will not be possible during construction, and drivers who normally cut through Burley Hills will need to use alternate routes for the duration.

The village has not disclosed a project cost or named a contractor.

The work follows Indian Hill's decision in December 2025 to raise its income tax rate from 0.45% to 0.5%, with aging infrastructure cited as one of four reasons for the increase. Water mains and culvert pipes fall squarely into that category, and the Burley Hills project is one visible result of the village directing more revenue toward underground utilities.
